1. Dr Srikumar Banerjee, after assuming the charge of Chairman, AEC & Secretary, DAE, chaired the 14th AMD Council of Management Meeting held on 19.02.2010 at AMD hyderabad and emphasized the need for identifying indeginous uranium resources to sustain the three stage Nuclear Power Programme of the country. He further emphasized the need for research and development efforts to overcome the problems of quality of ore which in turn affect the quality of the yellow cake and nuclear fuel. After the meeting Dr.Banerjee also interacted with the members of AMD employees Union.

2. Shri S.Vijay Kumar, Special Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India alongwith shri A.K.bhandari, Advisor, Ministry of Mines, visited AMD, Hyderabad on 06.04.2010 and discussed various issues related to Beach Sand minerals and mining. A detailed discussion was also held on AMD's suggestions on the MMDR Act 2010.

3. Delisted Prescribed Substances:Department of Atomic Energy vide their I.D.Note No.8/1(2)2004-PSU/Vol.III/2631 dated 18.4.2007 have informed that AMD certification of export consignments of ilmenite is not to be insisted upon as titanium ores and concentrates (ilmenite, rutile and leucoxene) and zirconium, its alloys and compounds and minerals/concentrates including zircon have been delisted from the list of Prescribed Substances after 1.1.2007. Further DAE has notified vide ID No.7/3(5)/2003-PSU/398 dated 18.7.2007 that AMD certification of export consignments of Garnet also may not be insisted upon.

4. Appointment of Radiological Safety Officer: As per Order No: AMD-21(7)/2010-PMSG Dt.30.08.2010, Director, AMD designated Shri B.Sreenivasa Murthy, Scientific Officer-C, RSA Laboratory as Radiological Safety Officer and he is authorized to handle the radioactive material as per the requirements stipulated in AERB Safety Code on "Transport of Radioactive Material" No.AERB/SC/TR-1(1986).

5. Dr.Franz Joseph Hormes, Director, Canadian Light source (CLS) visited AMD Hyderabad on 20.01.2010 and gave a presentation on the fundamentals of the operation of Synchrotron and its applications on exploration and mining.

6. Office of the AMD's SC/ST employees welfare association (Regn.No.369/2009) was inaugurated by Dr.Anjan Chaki, Director, AMD on 01.08.2010 at AMD, Headquarters, hyderabad.
